- Affected Teaching
- One of the most egregious sins of the church
and many Christians is to remarry after divorce or to marry
another who is divorced. The Bible is very clear on this
matter.
-
- (Mark 10:11-12 MLV) And he says to them,
Whoever divorces his wife and marries another, is
committing adultery against her: and if a woman divorces her husband and
marries another, she is committing adultery.
-
- (Luke 16:18 MLV) Everyone who
divorces his wife and marries another, commits
adultery and everyone who marries the one who is
divorced from a husband commits adultery.
-
- (Rom 7:2-3 MLV) For* the
married woman is bound by law to the living husband; but
if the husband dies, she is {F}
discharged from the law of the husband. (3)
So then, if while the husband is living, she becomes
joined to another man, she will be divinely named: an
adulteress; but if the husband dies, she is free from
the law, she is not an adulteress, though she became
joined to another man.
-
- (1 Cor 7:39 MLV) A wife is
bound by law for as long as a time as her husband is
living; but also if the husband has fallen asleep, she
is free to be married to whom she wills; but only in the
Lord.
-
- These verses
clearly indicate that if a man or woman divorces their
spouse and remarries another, whether they be Christian or
not, they are committing adultery.
With the perversion of Mt. 5:28 by the NIV, no
doubt why minority text versions are happy to remove this verse.
