Gospel According to Matthew  (MLV)

Matthew 19)

19:1 And it happened when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee and came into the borders of Judaea beyond the Jordan; 19:2 and great crowds followed him; and he healed them there.

19:3 And the Pharisees came to him, testing him and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for every cause?

19:4 And he answered and said to them, Have you* not read, He who made them from the beginning made them male and female. {Gen. 1.27, 5.2} 19:5 And said, Because of this a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife; and the two will become one flesh? {Gen. 2:24} 19:6 So that they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has yoked together, do not let man separate.

19:7 They say to him, Why then did Moses command us to give a document of divorcement and to dismiss her ? {Dt. 24:1-4}

19:8 He says to them, Moses for your* hardness of heart permitted you* to divorce your* wives: but from the beginning it was not so. 19:9 And I say to you*, Whoever divorces his wife (not for fornication) and marries another, commits adultery and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.

19:10 His disciples say to him, If in this manner is the case of the man with his wife, it is not advantageous to marry.

19:11 But he said to them, Not all men can receive this saying, but they to whom it has been given. 19:12 For* there are eunuchs, that were born so from their mother's womb and there are eunuchs, that were made eunuchs by men and there are eunuchs, that made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom because of heaven. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.

19:13 Then were there brought to him little children, that he should lay his hands on them and pray and the disciples rebuked them. 19:14 But Jesus said, Allow the little children and forbid them not, to come to me: for* of such is the kingdom of heaven. 19:15 And he laid his hands on them and departed there.

19:16 And behold, one came to him and said to him, Good teacher, what good things shall I do, that* I may have eternal life?

19:17 And he said to him, Why do You call me good? No one is good except one, who is God: but if you will to enter into life, keep the commandments.

19:18 He says to him, Which?

And Jesus said, You will not murder, You will not commit adultery, You will not steal, You will not falsely testify, 19:19 Honor your father and mother. {Ex. 20:12-16 & DT. 5:16-20} And, You will love* your neighbor as yourself. {Lev. 19:18}

19:20 The young man says to him, I have observed all these things from my youth: what lack I yet?

19:21 Jesus said to him, If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven and come, follow me. 19:22 But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sorrowful; for* he had great possessions.

19:23 And Jesus said to his disciples, Truly I say to you*, It is hard for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven. 19:24 And again I say to you*, It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

19:25 And when his disciples heard it, they were extremely astounded, saying, Who then is able to be saved?

19:26 And Jesus looking upon them said to them, This is impossible with men; but with God all things are possible.

19:27 Then answered Peter and said to him, Behold, we have left all and followed you; what then will we have?

19:28 And Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you*, that you* who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you* also will sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brethren or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields, because of my name, will receive a hundred times that and will inherit eternal life. 19:30 But many will be last that are first; and first that are last.
