Gospel According to Mark (MLV)

Mark 9) 9:1 And he said to them, Truly I say to you*, There are some here of those who stand by, who will by no means taste of death, until they see the kingdom of God come with power.

(Mk 9:2-13 & Mt 17:1-13 & Lk 9:28-36) Caesarea Philippi

9:2 And after six days Jesus takes with him Peter and James and John and brings them up into a high mountain privately alone and he was transformed before them; 9:3 and his garments became glistering, exceeding white like* snow, such as no launderer on earth is able to whiten. 9:4 And Elijah with Moses appeared to them and they were speaking with Jesus. 9:5 And Peter answering, says to Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here and let us make three tabernacles; one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah. 9:6 For* he did not know what he should say; for* they were fearful. 9:7 And there came a cloud overshadowing them and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved* Son. You* hear him. 9:8 And suddenly having looked around, they saw no one any more, but Jesus alone with themselves.

9:9 And as they were coming down from the mountain, he ordered them that* they should describe to no one what they had seen, except when the Son of Man rises from the dead. 9:10 And they laid hold of the saying, debating together, What is the rising from the dead? 9:11 And they asked him, saying, How is it that the scribes say that Elijah must first come? 9:12 And he answering, said to them, Elijah indeed comes first and restores all things and how is it written of the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be despised? 9:13 But I say to you*, that Elijah has come and they have also done to him whatever they would, just-as it has been written of him.

(Mk 9:14-29 & Mt 17:14-20 & Lk 9:37-43) Region of Caesarea Philippi

9:14 And they, having come to the disciples, saw a great crowd around them and scribes debating with them. 9:15 And immediately all the crowd, when they saw him, were utterly-amazed and running to him, they greeted him. 9:16 And he asked them, What do you* wish to debate with them? 9:17 And one out of the crowd answering, said, Teacher, I brought my son to you, who has a dumb spirit; 9:18 and wherever it overtakes him, it rips him apart and he foams and grinds his teeth and he is withering away and I spoke to your disciples that they should cast it out; and they were not able. 9:19 And he answering him, says, Oh faithless generation, until when shall I be with you*? Until when shall I tolerate you*? Bring him to me. 9:20 And they brought him to him and when he saw him, immediately the spirit convulsed him; and he fell on the ground and wallowed foaming. 9:21 And he asked his father, How long a time is it since this happened to him?

And he said, From childhood. 9:22 And often it has cast him both into fire and into waters, That it might destroy him: but if you are able to do anything, help us and have compassion on us.

9:23 And Jesus said to him, If you are able to believe. All things are possible to him who believes.

9:24 And immediately the father of the child cried out with tears and said, I believe; Lord, help my unbelief.

9:25 And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to him, You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter no more into him.

9:26 And having cried out and convulsed him greatly, it came out and the boy became as one dead; so-that many said, He is dead.

9:27 But Jesus having taken him by the hand, raised him up; and he arose. 9:28 And when he had entered into the house, his disciples asked him privately, How is it that we were not able to cast it out?

9:29 And he said to them, This kind is not able to come out by anything, except by prayer and fasting.

(Mk 9:30-32 & Mt 17:22-23 & Lk 9:43-45) Return to Galilee

9:30 And they went forth from there and passed through Galilee; and he did not wish that* anyone should know it. 9:31 For* he taught his disciples and said to them, The Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of men and they will kill him; and having been killed, he will rise again on the third day. 9:32 But they did not understood the saying and were afraid to ask him.

(Mt 17:24-27) Capernaum Sept. 29 AD

(Mk 9:33-50 & Mt 18:1-14 & Lk 9:46-50)

9:33 And he came to Capernaum and when he was in the house he asked them, What were you* reasoning on the way among yourselves? 9:34 But they were silent: for* they had discussed with one another on the way, who was the greater. 9:35 And he sitting down, called the twelve; and he says to them, If anyone wishes to be first, he will be last of all and SERVANT of all. 9:36 And he took a little child and set him in the midst of them and taking him in his arms, he said to them, 9:37 Whoever receives one little children of such in my name, receives me and whoever receives me, does not receive me, but he who sent me.

9:38 And John answered him, saying, Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, who does not follow us and we forbid him, because he does not follow us. 9:39 But Jesus said, Do not forbid him: for* there is no one who will do a miracle in my name and be able quickly to curse me. 9:40 For* he who is not against you* is working on behalf of you*. 9:41 For* whoever gives you* a cup of water to drink in my name, because you* are of Christ, truly I say to you*, he should by no means lose his reward. 9:42 And whoever offends one of these little ones who believe in me, it is good for him rather if the millstone turned by donkeys were hanged around his neck and he had been cast into the sea. 9:43 And if your hand offends you, cut it off: it is good for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire. 9:44 where their worm is not dying and the fire is not quenched. 9:45 And if your foot offends you, cut it off: it is good for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into hell, into the unquenchable fire. 9:46 where their worm is not dying and the fire is not quenched. 9:47 And if your eye offends you, cast it out: it is good for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell of fire; 9:48 where their worm is not dying and the fire is not quenched. 9:49 For* everyone will be salted with fire and every sacrifice will be salted with salt. 9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt has become tasteless, with what shall you* season it? Have salt in yourselves and be at peace one with another.
