Gospel According to Mark (MLV)
Mark 5)
(Mk 5:1-21 & Mt 8:28-34 & Lk 8:26-40) Gergesa
5:1 And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenses. 5:2 And when he had come out of the boat, immediately a man met him out of the tombs with an unclean spirit, 5:3 who had his dwelling in the tombs and no one was able to bind him, not even with chains; 5:4 because of that he had been often bound with shackles and chains and the chains had been torn in pieces by him and the shackles broken in pieces and no one had strength to tame him. 5:5 And he was always, night and day, in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones.
5:6 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped him; 5:7 and crying out with a loud voice, he said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, you are the Son of the Most High God? I adjure you by God, do not torment me. 5:8 For* he said to him, Come forth, you unclean spirit, out of the man. 5:9 And he asked him, What is your name?
And he answered, saying, My name is Legion; because we are many. 5:10 And he besought him greatly that he would not send them away outside the region.
5:11 Now there was there on the mountain side a great herd of swine feeding. 5:12 And all the demons besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. 5:13 And Jesus immediately permitted them. And the unclean spirits came out and entered into the swine and the herd rushed down the cliff into the sea. Now they were about two thousand; and they were drowned in the sea.
5:14 And those who fed the swine, fled and reported it to the city and to the rural-area. And they came out to see what it was that had happened. 5:15 And they come to Jesus and behold him who was possessed with demons sitting and clothed and sober-minded, even him who had the legion and they were afraid. 5:16 And those who saw it described to them how it happened to him who was possessed with demons and about the swine. 5:17 And they began to beseech him to depart from their borders.
5:18 And as he entered into the boat, he who had been possessed with demons besought him that he might be with him. 5:19 But Jesus did not allow him, but says to him, Go to your house to your friends and report to them how great things the Lord did for you and how he had mercy on you*. 5:20 And he went his way and began to preach in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him and all men marveled.
5:21 And when Jesus had crossed over again in the boat to the other side, a great crowd was gathered to him; and he was by the sea. 5:22 And behold one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, comes and seeing him, he falls at his feet; 5:23 and greatly besought him, saying, My little daughter is in her last moments: I pray that you come and lay your hands on her, that she may be cured and will live. 5:24 And he went with him.
(Mk 5:22-43 & Mt 9:18-26 & Lk 8:41-56) Capernaum
And a great crowd followed him and they thronged him. 5:25 And a certain woman, who had a flowing of blood for twelve years, 5:26 and had suffered many things by many physicians and had spent all that she had and was profited nothing, but rather came to worse, 5:27 having heard about Jesus, came in the crowd behind and touched his garment. 5:28 For* she said, If I touch but his garments, I will be cured. 5:29 And immediately the spring of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disorder. 5:30 And immediately Jesus, knowing in himself that the power proceeding out of him had gone forth and having turned in the crowd, said, Who touched my garments?
5:31 And his disciples said to him, You see the crowd thronging you and you say, Who touched me? 5:32 And he looked around to see her who had done this thing. 5:33 But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him all the truth.
5:34 And he said to her, Daughter, your faith has cured you; go in peace and be healthy of your disorder.
5:35 While he yet spoke, they come from the ruler of the synagogue's house saying, Your daughter is dead: why do you bother the Teacher any further?
5:36 But Jesus immediately overhearing the word spoken, says to the ruler of the synagogue, Do not fear, only believe. 5:37 And he allowed no one to follow him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James. 5:38 And he comes to the house of the ruler of the synagogue; and he beholds an uproar, many greatly weeping and wailing. 5:39 And when he had entered in, he says to them, Why are you* in an uproar and are weeping? The child is not dead, but is sleeping. 5:40 And they laughed at him. But having put them all out, he takes the father of the child and her mother and those who were with him and he goes in where the child was lying. 5:41 And taking the child by the hand, he says to her, Talitha cumi; which is, being translated, Damsel, I say to you, Arise. 5:42 And immediately the damsel rose up and walked; for* she was twelve years old. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. 5:43 And he greatly ordered them that no one should know this and he said that something should be given to her to eat.
