Gospel According to Mark (MLV)

Mark 14)

(Mt 25:1-46) Mount of Olives, Tues.

(Mk 14:1-2 & Mt 26:1-5 & Lk 22:1-2) Mount Olives, Bethany, Jerusalem, Tues. Evening (Wed. For the Jews)

14:1 Now after two days was the feast of the Passover and the unleavened bread and the high-priests and the scribes sought how they might take him with guile and kill him: 14:2 but they said, Not during the feast, lest there will be an uproar of the people.

(Mk 14:3-9 & Mt 26:6-13)

14:3 And while he was in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he reclined at a meal, there came a woman having an alabaster cruse of ointment of undiluted perfume very costly; and she broke the alabaster cruse and poured it over his head. 14:4 But there were some who were indignant within themselves, saying, FOR what purpose has this waste of the ointment been made? 14:5 For* this ointment might have been sold for above three hundred denarius and given to the poor. And they scolded her. 14:6 But Jesus said, Allow her; why do you* bother her? She has worked a good work on me. 14:7 For* you* have the poor always with you* and whenever you* WILL, you* are able to do them good: but you* do not always have me. 14:8 She has done what she could; she has anticipated the need to anoint my body for the burying. 14:9 And truly I say to you*, Wherever the gospel will be preached throughout the whole world, that also, what this woman has done will be spoken of for a memorial of her.

(Mk 14:10-11 & Mt 26:14-16 & Lk 22:3-6 & John 12:2-8)

14:10 And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went away to the high-priests, that he might deliver him to them. 14:11 And they, having heard it, rejoiced and promised to give him silver. And he sought how he might conveniently deliver him to them.

(Mk 14:12-17 & Mt 26:17-20 & Lk 22:7-18, 24-30) Bethany to Jerusalem Thurs. Evening

14:12 And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they sacrificed the Passover, his disciples say to him, Where do you wish us to go and prepare to eat the Passover? 14:13 And he sends two of his disciples and says to them, Go into the city and there will meet you* a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him; 14:14 and wherever he will enter in, say to the master of the house, The Teacher says, Where is my guest-room, where I will eat the Passover with my disciples? 14:15 And he will himself show you* a large upper rom furnished and ready and there make ready for us. 14:16 And the disciples went forth and came into the city and found as he had said to them and they made ready the Passover. 14:17 And when it became evening he comes with the twelve.

(Jn 13:1-20) Thurs. Evening

(Mk 14:18-21, 27-31 & Mt 26:21-25, 31-35 & Lk 22:21-23, 31-38 & Jn 13:21-38)

(Mk 14:22-25 & Mt 26:26-29 & Lk 22:19-20, 1Cor: 11:23-26)

(Jn 14-16)

(Jn 17) Thurs. Night (Friday to Jews)

(Mk 14:26, 32-42 & Mt 26:30, 36-46 & Lk 22:39-46 & Jn 18:1) Garden between brook Kidron and Mount of Olives, Late Thurs. night

14:18 And as they reclined and were eating, Jesus said, Truly I say to you*, One of you* will deliver me up to the Jews, even he who is eating with me. 14:19 They began to be sorrowful and to say to him one by one, Is it I? 14:20 And he said to them, It is one of the twelve, he who dips with me in the dish. 14:21 The Son of Man indeed is going, just-as it has been written concerning him: but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is delivered up! It would be good for him, if that man had not been born. 14:22 And as they were eating, he took bread and when he had blessed, he broke it and gave to them and said, You* take: this is my body. 14:23 And he took a cup and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them and they all drank of it. 14:24 And he said to them, This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out concerning many. 14:25 Truly I say to you*, I will no more drink of the fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God. 14:26 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 14:27 And Jesus says to them, All you* will be offended: because it has been written, 'I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered abroad.' {Zech. 13:7} 14:28 But after I am raised up, I will go before you* into Galilee.

14:29 But Peter said to him, Although all will be offended, yet I will not.

14:30 And Jesus says to him, Truly I say to you, that you today, even this night, before the rooster crow twice, will deny me three times.

14:31 But he spoke more vehemently, If I must die with you, I will not deny you*. And likewise they all also were saying it. 14:32 And they come to an enclosed piece of ground which was named Gethsemane and he says to his disciples, You* sit here, until I pray. 14:33 And he takes with him Peter and James and John and began to be utterly-amazed and deeply depressed. 14:34 And he says to them, My soul is very-sorrowful, you* abide here and watch. 14:35 And he went forward a little and fell on the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass away from him. 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible for you; carry this cup away from me: but not what I will, but what you will. 14:37 And he comes and finds them sleeping and says to Peter, Simon, do you sleep? Could you not watch one hour? 14:38 Watch and pray, that you* do not enter into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. 14:39 And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. 14:40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for* their eyes were heavy; and they did not know what to answer him. 14:41 And he comes the third time and says to them, Sleep on now and take your* rest: it is enough. The hour has come; behold, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 14:42 Arise, let us be going: behold, he who is delivering me up has drawn near.

(Mk 14:43-52 & Mt 26:47-56 & Lk 22:47-53 & Jn 18:2-11) Gethsemane, Friday a few hours before dawn

(Jn 18:12-14, 19-23) Friday before dawn

14:43 And immediately, while he yet spoke, Judas, one of the twelve, comes and with him a crowd with swords and staves, from the high-priests and the scribes and the elders. 14:44 Now he who betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomever I will kiss, that is he; take him and securely lead him away. 14:45 And he having come to the place, he went immediately to him and says, Rabbi; and kissed him. 14:46 And they laid hands on him and took him. 14:47 But a certain one of those who stood by drew his sword and hit the bondservant of the high-priest and took off his ear. 14:48 And Jesus answered and said to them, Have you* come out, as against a robber, with swords and staves to take me? 14:49 I was daily with you* in the temple teaching and you* did not take me: but this is done that the scriptures might be fulfilled. 14:50 And they all left him and fled. 14:51 And a certain young man followed with him, having a linen cloth cast around him, over his naked body and they lay hold on him; 14:52 but he left the linen cloth and fled naked.

(Mk 14:53, 55-65 & Mt 24:57, 59-68 & Lk 22:54, 63-65 & Jn 18:24) Palace of Caiaphas, before dawn.

(Mk 14:54, 66-72 & Mt 26:58, 69-75 & Lk 22:54-62 & Jn 18:15-18, 25-27) Court of High Priest's residence, Friday about dawn

14:53 And they led Jesus away to the high-priest and there come together with him all the high-priests and the elders and the scribes. 14:54 And Peter had followed him afar off, as far as inside, into the court of the high-priest; and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself in the light of the fire. 14:55 Now the high-priests and the whole council sought witness against Jesus to put him to death; and did not find it. 14:56 For* many falsely testified against him and their witness did not agree together. 14:57 And there stood up certain and falsely testified against him, saying, 14:58 We heard him say, I will tear-down this temple that is made with hands and in three days I will build another made without hands. 14:59 And not even so did their witness agree together. 14:60 And the high-priest stood up in the midst and asked Jesus, saying, Do you answer nothing? What is it which these testify against you? 14:61 But he was silent and answered nothing. Again the high-priest asked him and says to him, Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 14:62

And Jesus said, I am and you* will see the Son of Man sitting from the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.

14:63 And the high-priest ripped his clothes and says, What further need do we have of witnesses? 14:64 You* have heard the blasphemy: how does it appear to you*? And they all condemned him to be <19>worthy of death. 14:65 And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to buffet him and to say to him, Prophesy and the officers received him with blows of their hands. 14:66 And as Peter was below in the court, there comes one of the maidservants of the high-priest; 14:67 and seeing Peter warming himself, she looked upon him and says, You also was with the Nazarene, even Jesus.

14:68 But he denied, saying, I neither know, nor know what you say and he went outside into the porch; and the rooster crew.

14:69 And the maidservant saw him and began again to say to those who stood by, This is one out of them. 14:70 But he again denied it. And after a little while again those who stood by said to Peter, Truly you are one out of them; for* you are a Galilaean and your speech is similar.

14:71 But he began to curse and to swear, I do not know this man of whom you* speak. 14:72 And immediately the second time the rooster crew. And Peter remembered the word, how that Jesus said to him, Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times. And having put his thoughts on it, he wept.
