Gospel According to Mark (MLV)

Mark 13)

(Jn 12:20-50) In the Temple, Tues.

(Mk 13:1-23 & Mt 24:1-28 & Lk 21:5-24) Destruction of Jerusalem

13:1 And as he went forth out of the temple, one of his disciples says to him, Teacher, behold, what manner of stones and what manner of buildings.

13:2 And Jesus said to him, Do you see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another, which will not be torn-down.

13:3 And as he sat on the Mount of Olives before the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, 13:4 Tell us, when will these things be? And what shall be the sign when these things are all about to be accomplished?

13:5 And Jesus began to say to them, See that you* do not let anyone mislead you*. 13:6 Many will come in my name, saying, I am he ; and will mislead many. 13:7 And when you* will hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be upset: for* these things must happen; but the end is not yet. 13:8 For* nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in different places; there will be famines and disturbances: these things are the beginning of travail. 13:9 But you* will see for yourselves: they will deliver you* up to councils; and in synagogues you* will be beaten; and before governors and kings you* will stand because of me, FOR a testimony to them. 13:10 And the gospel must first be preached to all the nations. 13:11 And when they lead you* to judgment and deliver you* up, do not be anxious beforehand what you* will speak: but whatever will be given to you* in that hour, you* will speak that; it is not you* who speak, but the Holy Spirit. 13:12 And brother will deliver up brother to death and the father his child; and children will rise up against parents and will put them to death. 13:13 And you* will be hated by all men because of my name: but he who having endured to the end, this one will be saved. 13:14 But when you* see the abomination of desolation standing where it ought not (let him who is reading perceive), then let those who are in Judaea flee to the mountains: 13:15 and let him who is on the housetop not go down, nor enter in, to take anything out his house: 13:16 and let him who is in the field not return back to take his cloak. 13:17 But woe to those who are with child and to those who are nursing in those days! 13:18 And you* pray that it is not in the winter. 13:19 For* those days will be tribulation, such as there has not happened from the beginning of the creation which God created until now and never will happen. 13:20 And except the Lord had shortened the days, no flesh would have been saved; but because of the chosen, whom he chose, he shortened the days. 13:21 And then if anyone says to you*, Behold, here is the Christ; or, Behold, there; believe it not: 13:22 for* there will arise false Christs and false prophets and will give signs and wonders, that they may lead astray, if possible, the chosen. 13:23 But you* beware: behold, I have told you* all things beforehand.

(Mk 13:24-37 & Mt 24:29-51 & Lk 21:25-37) Second Coming

13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her radiance, 13:25 and the stars will be falling from heaven and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. 13:26 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 13:27 And then he will send forth the angels and will gather together his chosen from the four winds, from the tip of the earth to the tip of heaven. 13:28 Now from the fig tree learn her parable: when her branch has already become tender and its leaves have sprung forth, you* know that the summer is near; 13:29 even so you* also, when you* see these things happening, you* know that it is near, even at the doors. 13:30 Truly I say to you*, This generation will not pass away, until all these things happen. 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away: but my words will not pass away. 13:32 But no one knows concerning that day or that hour, not even the angels in heaven, neither the Son, except only the Father. 13:33 You* beware, watch and pray: for* you* do not know when the time is. 13:34 It is as when a man, leaving the country, having left his house and given authority to his bondservant, to each one his work, commanded also the doorkeeper to watch. 13:35 Watch therefore: for* you* do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether at evening or midnight or rooster's crowing or in the morning; 13:36 lest coming suddenly he find you* sleeping. 13:37 And what I say to you* I say to all, Watch.
