Modern Literal Version - Pre-Release 2012
[Luke 21]
21:1 And he looked up and saw the rich men who were casting their gifts into the treasury. 21:2And he also saw a certain poor widow casting two bronze coins in there. 21:3 And he said, Truly I say to you*, This poor widow cast in more-than they all: 21:4 for* all these cast into the gifts of God out of what was abounding to them; but she cast in out of her need, all the livelihood that she had.
21:5 And as some spoke about the temple, how it was adorned with good stones and votive-offerings, he said, 21:6 As for these things which you* are viewing, the days will come, in whichone stone will not be left here upon another stone, that will not be torn-down.
21:7 And they asked him, saying, Therefore teacher, when will these things be? And what will be the sign when these things are about to happen?
21:8 And he said, See that you* are not misled; for* many will come in my name, saying, I am he, and, The time has drawn near. Therefore you* do not go after them. 21:9 And when you* will hear of wars and unrest, do not be terrified; for* these things must happen first; but the end is not immediately.
21:10 Then he said to them, Nation will arise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; 21:11and there will be great earthquakes in different places and famines and pestilences, and there will be fearful things and there will be great signs from heaven. 21:12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you* and will persecute you*, giving you* up to the synagogues and prisons, leading you* before kings and governors because of my name. 21:13 But it will transpire for you* into a testimony. 21:14 Therefore settle it into your* hearts, not to meditate beforehand how to make a defense: 21:15 for* I will give you* a mouth and wisdom, which all who antagonize you* will not be able to withstand nor to speak against. 21:16 But you* will be given up even by parents and brethren and relatives and friends, and they will put to death some out of you*. 21:17And you* will be hated by all men because of my name. 21:18 And a hair out of your* head should not be destroyed. 21:19 You* will procure your* souls in your* patient endurance.
21:20 But when you* see Jerusalem surrounded by encamped armies, then know that her desolation has drawn near. 21:21 Then let those who are in Judea escape to the mountains, and let those who are in the midst of her vacate, and do not let those who are in the country enter in it.21:22 Because these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 21:23But woe to those who are with child and to those who are nursing in those days! For* a great calamity will be upon the land and wrath among this people. 21:24 And they will fall by the edge of the sword and will be brought into captivity into all the nations and Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled.
21:25 And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and dismay of nations upon the earth, in perplexity for the noise of the sea and the billows; 21:26 men quivering from fear and expectation of the things which are coming on the world*; for* the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 21:27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 21:28 But when these things begin to happen, be elated and lift up your* heads; because your* redemption is drawing near.
21:29 And he spoke to them a parable: Behold the fig tree and all the trees: 21:30 when they alreadycast forth leaves, you*, looking at them, know from yourselves that the summer is already near.21:31 Even so you* also, when you* see these things happening, you* know that the kingdom of God is near. 21:32 Truly* I say to you*, This generation will not pass away, until all things happen.21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away; but my words may never pass away.
21:34 But take-heed to yourselves, lest your* hearts be burdened with a drunken sickness and drunkenness and anxieties of everyday life and that day should suddenly stand upon you*; 21:35for* it will come like a snare upon all those sitting upon the face of all the earth. 21:36 Therefore you* watch in every season, beseeching, that* you* may be deemed worthy to escape all the things which are about to happen and to stand before the Son of Man.
21:37 And every day he was teaching in the temple, and every night he went out and camped in the mountain that is called Olives. 21:38 And all the people came at early morning to hear him in the temple.
