Gospel According to Luke (MLV)
Luke 13)
13:1 Now there were some present in the same season reporting to him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 13:2 And Jesus answering, said to them, Do you* think that these Galileans became sinners above all the Galileans, because they have suffered these things? 13:3 I tell you*, No: but, unless you* repent, you* will all likewise perish. 13:4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed, do you* think that they became <21>offenders above all the men who dwell in Jerusalem? 13:5 I tell you*, No: but, unless you* repent, you* will all similarly perish.
13:6 And he spoke this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 13:7 And he said to the vine-dresser, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none: cut it down; why does it also waste the ground?
13:8 And he answering says to him, Lord, Leave it this year also, until I will dig around it and put in manure: 13:9 and if it produces fruit in the future, good ; but if not, you will cut it down.
13:10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath day. 13:11 And behold, a woman who had a spirit of sickness eighteen years; and she was always stooped downward and was not able to unbend herself completely. 13:12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her, Woman, you are released from your sickness. 13:13 And he laid his hands upon her and instantly she was made straight and glorified God.
13:14 And the ruler of the synagogue, being indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, answered and said to the crowd, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed and not on the day of the Sabbath.
13:15 But the Lord answered him and said, You* hypocrites, does not each one of you* on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead him away to watering? 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound, Behold, these eighteen years, to have been loosed from this bond on the day of the Sabbath?
13:17 And as he said these things, all who were antagonizing him were ashamed and all the crowd rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
13:18 He said therefore, The kingdom of God is similar to what? And what shall I make it similar to? 13:19 It is similar to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and cast into his own garden; and it grew and became a tree; and the birds of the heaven nest in the branches of it.
13:20 And again he said, The kingdom of God be shall similar to what? 13:21 It is similar to leaven, which a woman took and mixed in three peck and a half containers of flour, until it all was leavened.
13:22 And he went on his way through cities and villages, teaching and making his undertaking toward Jerusalem. 13:23 And one said to him, Lord, are they few who are saved? And he said to them, 13:24 Strive to enter in by the narrow door: because I say to you*, many will seek to enter in and will not be able. 13:25 From the time the master of the house is risen up and has shut the door and you* begin to stand outside and to knock on the door, saying, Lord, open to us.
And he will answer and say to you*, I do not know where you* are from.
13:26 Then you* will begin to say, We did eat and drink in your presence and you did teach in our streets.
13:27 And he will say, I tell you*, I do not know where you* are from; depart from me, all of you* workers of unrighteousness. 13:28 The weeping and the gnashing of teeth will be there, when you* will see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God and yourselves cast forth outside. 13:29 And they will come from the east and west and from the north and south and will recline in the kingdom of God. 13:30 And behold, there are last who will be first and there are first who will be last.
13:31 In that same hour there came certain Pharisees, saying to him, Go forth and depart from here: because Herod wishes to kill you*.
13:32 And he said to them, Go and say to that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform healings today and tomorrow and the third day I am perfected. 13:33 Nevertheless I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following: because it is not acceptable that a prophet perishes outside Jerusalem. 13:34 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wished to have gathered your children together, in the way a hen gathers her own brood under her wings and you* would not! 13:35 Behold, your* house is left to you* desolate and I say to you*, You* will not see me, until you* will say, He who is coming in the name of the Lord is blessed.
