Gospel According to John (MLV)
John 2)
2:1 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2:2 and Jesus also was invited and his disciples, to the marriage. 2:3 And when the wine failed, the mother of Jesus says to him, They have no wine. 2:4 And Jesus says to her, Woman, what do I have to do with you? My hour has not come yet. 2:5 His mother says to the SERVANTS, Whatever he says to you*, do it. 2:6 Now six water pots of stone were standing there according to the Jews' purification, containing two or three firkins each. 2:7 Jesus says to them, Fill the water pots with water. And they filled them to the upward edge. 2:8 And he says to them, Draw it now and carry it to the ruler of the feast. And they carried it. 2:9 And when the ruler of the feast tasted the water which had become wine and did not know where it was from (but the SERVANTS that had drawn the water knew), the ruler of the feast calls the bridegroom, 2:10 and says to him, Every man places on the table first the good wine; and when men have drunk it, then what is inferior: you have kept the good wine until now. 2:11 This was the beginning of the signs which Jesus did in Cana of Galilee and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed in him.
2:12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brethren and his disciples; and they did not abide there many days.
2:13 And the Passover of the Jews was near and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2:14 And he found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves and the money-changers sitting. 2:15 And he made a scourge of ropes and cast all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the money of the money-changers and overthrew their tables; 2:16 and to those who sold the doves he said, Take these things from here; do not make my Father's house a house of merchandise. 2:17 His disciples remembered that it is written, 'Zeal for your house will eat me up.' {Ps. 69:9} 2:18 The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign do you show to us, seeing that you do these things?
2:19 Jesus answered and said to them, Tear-down this temple and in three days I will raise it up.
2:20 The Jews therefore said, This temple was in building forty six years and you will raise it up in three days? 2:21 But he spoke about the temple of his body. 2:22 When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he spoke this; and they believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in his name, beholding his signs which he was doing. 2:24 But Jesus did not trust himself to them, because of his knowledge of all men, 2:25 and because he had no need that anyone should testify concerning man; for* he himself knew what was in man.
