Modern Literal Version - Pre-Release 2012
[Hebrews 5]

5:1 For* every high priest, being taken from among men, is designated on behalf of men in things pertaining to God, that* he may offer both gifts and sacrifices on behalf of sins: 5:2 who is able to sympathize with the ignorant and the misled, since he himself is also encompassed with weakness; 5:3 and because of this weakness he ought to offer himself on behalf of sins, as concerning the people, so also concerning himself. 5:4 And no one takes the honor for himself, but when he is called by God, just-as Aaron was. 5:5 So Christ also did not glorify himself to become a high priest, but he who spoke to him, ‘You are my Son; I have fathered you* today.’ {Ps. 2:7} 5:6As he also says in another place, ‘You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.’ {Ps. 110:4} 5:7 Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with a strong outcry and tears to him who was able to save him from death and having been heard for his godly-fear, 5:8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered; 5:9 and having been perfected, he became the cause of eternal salvation to all those who obey him; 5:10 a high priest after the order of Melchizedek having been addressed by God.

5:11 Concerning whom we have many things to say and difficult to translate, since you* have become sluggish in hearing. 5:12 For* indeed, because of the time, you* ought to be teachers by now; but you* again have need again that someone teach you* the rudiments of the beginning oracles of God, and have become such as have need of milk and not of solid nourishment. 5:13For* everyone who partakes of milk is inexperienced from the word of righteousness; for* he is an infant. 5:14 But solid nourishment is for mature men, those who have their senses exercised to the discerning of both good and evil because of habit.
