The Acts: Book of Conversions (MLV)
Acts 2)
<4> 2:1 And while the day of Pentecost was being fulfilled, they were all together in the same place. 2:2 And suddenly there became a sound out of heaven as from the rushing of a violent wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 2:3 And there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire; and it sat upon each one of them. 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 2:5 Now there were Jews dwelling at Jerusalem, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 2:6 And when this sound was heard, the crowd came together and was confused, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 2:7 And they were all astonished and marveled, saying, Behold, are these who speak not all Galileans? 2:8 And how hear we, every man in our own language in which we were born? 2:9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, in Judaea and Cappadocia, in Pontus and Asia, 2:10 in Phrygia and Pamphylia, in Egypt and the parts of Libya toward Cyrene and the residing Roman, both Jews and proselytes, 2:11 Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our languages the magnificent things of God. 2:12 And they were all astonished and were perplexed, saying to one another, What does this mean? 2:13 But others mocking said, They are full of new wine.
2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them, saying, You* men of Judaea and all you* who dwell at Jerusalem, let this be known to you* and notice my words. 2:15 For* these are not drunken, as you* assume; for* it is only the third hour of the day. 2:16 but this is what has been spoken through the prophet Joel:
' 2:17 And it will be in the last days, says God, I will pour forth of My Spirit upon all flesh and your* sons and your* daughters will prophesy and your* young men will see visions and your* old men will dream dreams: 2:18 Yes and on my male bondservants and on my female bondservants in those days I will pour forth of my Spirit; and they will prophesy. 2:19 And I will give you wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath; Blood and fire and vapor of smoke: 2:20 The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord comes, the great and illustrious day. 2:21 And it will be, that everyone, whoever calls on the name of the Lord, will be saved.' {Joel 2:28-32}
2:22 You* men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man from God who had been shown to you* by miracles and wonders and signs which God did though him in your* midst, just-as you* yourselves also know; 2:23 him, being delivered up by what has been determined by the counsel and foreknowledge of God, you*, having crucified by the hand of lawless men, killed: 2:24 whom God raised up, having loosed the pangs of death: since it was not possible for him to be held by it. 2:25 For* David says in regard to him,
' I beheld the Lord always before my face; Because he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 2:26 Therefore my heart was merry and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will dwell in hope: 2:27 Because you will not leave my soul to Hades, Neither will you give your Holy One to see decay. 2:28 You made known to me the ways of life. You will fill me with joy with your appearance.' {Ps. 16:8-11}
2:29 Brethren, It is lawful for me to speak plainly to you* concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried and his tomb is with us to this day. 2:30 Being therefore a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins he would set one upon his throne.{Ps. 89:3-4, 132:11} 2:31 He foreseeing this spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was he left to Hades, nor did his flesh see decay. {Ps. 16:10} 2:32 This Jesus, God raised up, of whom we are all witnesses. 2:33 Being exalted therefore by the right hand of God and having received the promise of the Holy Spirit from the Father, he has poured forth this, which you* see and hear. 2:34 For* David ascended not into the heavens: but he himself says, 'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit on my right hand, 2:35 until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet.' {Ps. 110:1} 2:36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain, that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you* crucified.
2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do? 2:38 And Peter said to them, You* repent and be immersed* every one of you* in the name of Jesus Christ FOR the forgiveness of your* sins; and you* will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 2:39 For* to you* is the promise and to your* children and to all who are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God will call to him. 2:40 And he testified with many other words, encouraging them, saying, Save yourselves from this crooked generation. 2:41 Then they, who gladly-received his word, were immersed*. And there was added to them in that day about three thousand souls. 2:42 And they continued-steadfastly in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and the prayers.
2:43 And fear came upon every soul and many wonders and signs were happening through the apostles. 2:44 And all who believed were together and had all things common. 2:45 They sold their possessions and goods and divided them to all, just-as anyone had need. 2:46 And continuing-steadfastly with one accord in the temple and breaking bread at home day by day, they took their food with gladness and singleness of heart, 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to them those who were saved day by day.
<4> Chapter and verse divisions were added by man. In the original Acts 1:26 & Acts 2:1 are the same sentence. The "they" has been disputed by many. Read both 1:26 and Acts 2:1 together with out punctuation and decide for yourself. See also Acts 1:5.
