“THE OTHER TWO CROSSES"
Lu. 23:33 

Introduction: 

1. Purpose of the lesson not to minimize one but to emphasize the other two. Rather than omit any, we shall speak of the cross of Christ briefly, then study about the other two  2. Jesus' cross was made for a sinless victim, a forgiving victim, a silent victim, an obedient Son. Matt. 27:24; Lu. 23:34; Isa. 53:7; Phil. 2:8 NOW TO THE OTHER TWO

I. THE IMPENITENT SOUL 

1. Disrespect for law had put him there  2. His only thought was to "save" his body. vs. 39  3. His only appeal was one of contempt. "Railed."  4. Even amid sacred surroundings he was defiant  5. Presence of Jesus, disciples, suffering, death  6. His story can be told in these words: Hardness, Defiance, Blasphemy, Condemnation II. THE PENITENT SOUL  1. Guilty as the other. "Same condemnation."  2. Admits his guilt. "We indeed justly."  3. Bears no hatred toward authorities  4. Rebukes the blaspheming thief  5. First person to defend the Crucified Christ  6. Sacred surroundings have affect  7. Confesses guilt, asks to be "remembered."  8. Son of Man had power to forgive sins III. CONCLUSION:  1. "Be with Me in paradise." What a privilege!  2. All true penitents, obeying the Lord, will be with Him in Paradise T. W. B.
