“A SAFE CHANNEL."

Introduction: Riding upon a ship in one of the Great Lakes a passenger became very much alarmed at the number of rocks that could be seen along the shore line. Fearing lest the ship get too close to one of them, the passenger asked the Captain, "Do you know where all those dangerous rocks are?" "No," replied the Captain, "but I know Where the safe channel is." 'This describes the position we hold as a religious body. We may not know all the dangerous places, but we know where a safe channel is to be found

I. THE NAME WE WEAR IS A SAFE NAME Acts 20:28; 1 Cor. 2:2; Rom. 16:16; Matt. 16:18; 1 Tim. 3:15; Acts 11:26; 1 Pet. 4:16; Acts 26:28; Acts 4:12 If other names are safe, we are still safe. If other names are wrong, we are still right

II. THE DOCTRINE WE TEACH IS A SAFE DOCTRINE 2 Tim. 3:13-17; Acts 2:42; 2 John 9; Rom. 1:16; Gal. 1:8, 9; Rev. 22:18, 19; 1 Tim. 4:16; 2 Tim. 4:1 If other doctrines are right, we are also right. If others are wrong we are still right

III. THE WORSHIP WE OBSERVE IS A SAFE WORSHIP Acts 2:42; John 4:23, 24; Heb. 10:25; Acts 20:7; 1 Cor. 11:24-30; 1 Cor. 16:1, 2; 2 Cor. 9:7; Col. 3:16; Eph. 5:19 If other systems of worship are safe, we, too, are safe. If other systems are wrong, we are still safe

IV. THE PLAN OF SALVATION WE TEACH IS SAFE Mk. 16:15, 16; Matt. 28:18-20; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:4; 1 Pet. 3:21; Acts 8:34-39 If other plans are right, so is this one. If other plans are wrong, this one is still right

Conclusion: Principle may be applied to all things that pertain to life and godliness. There's a safe place in everything, even in the divorce and remarriage problem. If it's right to remarry, it's certainly right to stay single. Better stay single! Why take a chance?
