I. HE WAS READY TO BE "OFFERED"
1. Not merely to die-to be offered
2. How account for his readiness?
a). Obedience. Acts 9:6;26:19,20
b). Loyalty. Acts 20:@-0-24
II. HE HAD FOUGHT A GOOD FIGHT
1. Not just a fight-a good fight
2. He had fought many battles. Mars Hill, Ephesus
3. Was expecting a soldier's reward
a). Wanted to go "home." Phil. 1:23
b). Wanted an honorable discharge. Act. 20:24
c). Wanted a reunion with comrades. 2 Tim. 4:8
III. HE HAD FINISHED HIS COURSE
1. His course-not Peter's, John's
2. His course had been divinely planned. Acts 9:15,16
3. Had run nobly. I Cor. 9:25-27
4. Had not cheated. 1 Cor. 8:12,13
5. Had not faltered. Acts 20:22-24
6. Had heart on the prize. Phil. 3:14
IV. HE HAD KEPT THE FAITH
1. Not faith of his parents
2. Not a faith, but the faith. Jude 3
3. Had embraced it while persecuting Christians. Acts 9
4. Had kept it under constant persecution. Ac. 20:24
5. Preached the faith he once destroyed. Gal. 1:23
6. Only death between him and reward. Rev. 2:10
CONCLUSION: No wonder he was ready to be offered
