Chapter 25 

I. The latter life of Abraham. Verses 1-11

Isaac manifested a peace-making attitude. Verses 17-22  2. We should manifest a peace -making attitude. Matt. 5:9  D. This was the assurance of his prosperity. Verses 23-25  1. The Lord assured Isaac that he would continue to prosper. Verses 23-25  2. The Lord assures us that we will continue to prosper. 2 Cor. 9:6-8 IV. The covenant between Abimeleck and Issac. I. The Patriarchal blessing from Isaac. Verses 1-46 

A. The proposal of this blessing. Verses 1-17 1. Isaac wanted to bless Isaac. Verses 1-4  2. Rebecca wanted Isaac to bless Jacob. Verses 5-17  3. Jacob was to receive the blessing instead of Esau. This was the motivation of his life. Verse 6  1. Esau was motivated by envy. Verse 6  2. We should not be motivated by envy. James 3:16  B. This was the nature of his life. Verses 7-9  1. Esau disrespected his parents. Verses 7-8  2. We can disrespect our parents. Eph. 6:1-3  C. This was the effects of his life. Verse 9  1. Esau became a polygamist. Verse 9  2. This sin is forbidden. Matt. 19:3-9 III. The life of Jacob. Verses 10-22  A. This was the stability of his life. Verses 10-12  1. Jacob dream of heaven. Verses 10-12  2. We should long for our heavenly home. This was the agreements of his marriages. Verses 15-20  1. Jacob agreed to work seven years for Rachel. Verses 15-18  2. Laban agreed to give Rachel to Jacob for his wife. Verses 19-20  C. These were the reasons for his marriages. Verses 21-30  1. Laban gave Leach his oldest daughter to Jacob for a wife. Verses 21-25  2. Laban also gave Rachel his youngest daughter to Jacob for a wife.
