BRIAN YEAGER In our modern day culture we make up nice terms to hide ugly terms. The term Alternate Lifestyle is often the term that replaces Homosexuality. Homosexuality has affected our culture. It has been present for a long time, since the early days of mankind. This lifestyle has made the approval of our society. Hollywood has approved Homosexuality in its characters of television shows. The public school system is teaching our children that this is an acceptable way of life. This article is not to make a bad issue more sour, but to review what God thinks of this “Alternate Lifestyle”. In most minds the very first series of passages that would come to mind would be in the book of Genesis. Here we have to cities condemned because of such “Alternate Lifestyles”. Sodom and Gomorrah would have been saved if it had just ten souls that would repent. Abraham asked the Lord starting with fifty, and working his way all the way down to ten. Yet, corruption had planted itself well into these cities. The account of this story is found in (Genesis 18:16-33; 19:1-29). There is a series of passages that will show us what God thinks of this treachery. (Genesis 19:15-24) “And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar. The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar. Then the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven;” The power of this
Old Testament reference carries into the New Testament as well. This
is not a topic that the Lord considers light. This will be a sure
way to Hell for many. (2 Peter 2:6) “And turning the cities of Sodom and
Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample
unto those that after should live ungodly.”
