WITH FAIR SPEECHES THEY DECEIVE BRIAN YEAGER
The most sickening thing in the world to me is those that deceive people who are seeking to find the Lord. Men like Billy Graham, and the others that have such an audience to affect thousands at one time. These men stand and claim to be preaching the Gospel of the Lord, yet it is with fair speeches that they deceive the hearts of the simple. We are warned of such men several times throughout the Bible, but for those that never study to find the truth they do not see the warnings. There are even those that have been once members of the Lord’s Church the have apostatized and are leading thousands astray teaching the doctrines of men. (Romans 16:17-18) “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.” The Bible clearly tells us what to do with the individual that would teach things that would be contrary to the scriptures. The Bible tells us to mark and avoid them. There are many that throughout the ages have come and gone teaching those things that are in their books and not the Lord’s book. The Bible is often forgotten in the world of religion. People tend to ask the leaders of their so-called “Church” before looking into the book for the answers. This is obviously not what the Lord wants for people to do. (II Timothy 2:15) “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” The elders of the Church were warned of such false
teachers trying to enter in among them. The Apostle Paul by inspiration
warned them of those that are of wolves that may try to enter in among
them. (Acts 20:27-30) “For I have not shunned to declare
unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves,
and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers,
to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in
among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men
arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.”
Christ identifies how the wolves will try to enter in among us, dressed
as the sheep that we are.
I just recently heard this statement. “I have
know my preacher all of my life, and he has never once told me that I needed
to open the Bible. My preacher is honest, and he is a good friend
of the family. I do what he tells me and that is all that God will
expect.” The first problem with that statement is that the preacher
is her preacher. He is surely not a preacher of the word of God.
We say a passage (II Timothy 2:15) that tells us to study the word.
To make a statement such as that and rely upon someone else to get you
to Heaven shows how badly you would want to get there. We need to
consider that we will all give an account of ourselves on the Day of Judgment
and no one else can do that for you. (Romans 14:12) “So then
every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
