Worship to our Lord is one of the most important things a Christian will ever do. This topic is one that over the past several years has been a major part of discussions. To shed some light let us look at the three types of worship.

(Matthew 15:9) But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. This verse is simple and plain. Jesus condemns those who worship according to the teachings of men. Again like in most cases concerning the Lord and our Christian lives, in this case worship, we are reminded that there is error. The error would be not having book, chapter, and verse for act that would be called worship. It has been said in recent years that everything one would do is worship. Yet that has not been sufficiently proven according to the scriptures. As we will examine later in this article we are given five acts of worship.

(Acts 17:23) For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, To The Unknown God. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. Here the rebuking of worship without the knowledge of the being that is worshipped. It is common to here one state "I do not know God, but I am thankful for all that he has done". This is ignorance. You can know the father but it does take an effort of study to know him.

(John 4:21-24) Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. The worship that is rewarding is that which is done in spirit and in truth. The worship that has God at the center, and no other motives.

The acts of the worship service are very well represented within the scriptures. We have to pray in the worship to God. (Acts 2:42) And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. We must present a sermon. (Acts 5:42) And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. We have to sing, and partake of the Lord’s supper in the worship to God. (Matthew 26:26-30) And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom. And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. Just as the Lord’s supper is to be done on the first day of the week (Sunday) Acts 20:7, thus the contribution is to be as well. (I Corinthians 16:1-2) Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. Let us always worship according to the scriptures. Let us always have our hearts ready to worship God. In conclusion, we must understand the way God wants us to worship him.
